Rogue "Mom" Hefeweizen

Dedicated to the Mom in each of us. Mom Hefeweizen is a refreshing, unfiltered fusion of wheat and Northwest Harrington malts, coriander, ginger, and Saaz hops in the Belgian style.

TASTING NOTES: This Belgian-style blonde ale is an unfiltered fusion of wheat and barley malts, spiced with coriander and ginger. .

5.2% ABV. Oregon.

Arbor Brewing Bavarian Bliss Hefeweizen
Einbecker Maibock

The maibock style is a pale German lager brewed to bock strength, therefore still as strong as traditional bock, but lighter in colour and with more hop presence. It is a fairly recent development compared to other styles of bock beers, frequently associated with springtime and the month of May.

"Einbecker Mai-Ur-Bock is a traditional springtime beer with a pale orange color, a fluffy off-white head, and a honeyed, toffeeish malt aroma ... This is a delicious beer in which hops and malt vie for dominance on the palate."
—Garrett Oliver, The Brewmaster's Table, p. 278

Germany.

PRICE: regular $13.99, SALE $12.99, 6-pack + tax & deposit
Cucapa Chupacabras Pale Ale
Cucapa Runaway IPA

In 2002 Cucapa Brewery opened its doors and became one of the first micro breweries in Mexico.

The Cucapá name comes from one of the native tribe of our state; Baja California. The Cucapá tribe are the pioneers of our region and its love for water and nature took them to live in the delta of the Colorado River in the desert of Mexicali. Cervecería de Baja California started planning what would become our first production and bottling plant in 2006.

Brewed with our indigenous two row Mexican malt and generous amounts of hops, this IPA is a citric bomb! Using four different hop varieties we created four different citric flavors that complement each other. Tangerine, Lemon, Grapefruit and Lime blend in to create a full flavor hopped up brew. The color is golden and the body is relatively full for a beer this light in color. This is an artifact of our full flavored base malt in perfect balance with the bitterness of the hops at 75 IBU.

7.5% ABV. Mexico.

PRICE: regular $6.99, SALE $5.99, 22oz bottle + tax & deposit

Our next Fermented Friday in-store sampling event, Friday May 4, 2012 from 5–7 p.m., will feature Unibroue beers!

Unibroue makes a wide range of beers, although there is a focus on Belgian-style brews, such as their Maudite ("Damned"), their La Fin Du Monde ("The End of the World"), and Don De Dieu ("Gift of God"). Most of Unibroue's beers are bottled "on the lees", or containing yeast sediment. This practice provides additional fermentation after bottling, resulting in a beer which ages well.

Arbor Brewing Bavarian Bliss Hefeweizen
Arbor Brewing Bavarian Bliss Hefeweizen

History: This summer specialty is made with fifty percent malted wheat for a clean, light, refreshing character, plus a special Bavarian yeast that creates the classic cloudy appearance and banana, clove, and lemon character. To decant from the bottle, pour three-quarters of the bottle into a glass and gently shake the remaining contents to mix the yeast back into the beer and then top off your glass. Delicious with a slice of lemon but we prefer it au natural.

Description: Classic aromas of banana, clove and floral citrus blossom. Fruity, spicy aromas show a rich yeasty character that follows through on a smooth, medium-bodied palate with a delicately spicy finish.

Food Pairings: Try it with barbecue ribs, smoked ham, marinated pork chops, and grilled or roasted vegetables. Or drink it with a dessert of Banana's Foster or chocolate mousse.

5.5% ABV. Michigan.

PRICE: regular $9.99, SALE $8.99, 6-pack + tax & deposit
